After nearly 30 years in business, in December 2022 we closed up the barns for the last time.
Every inch of the property holds layers and layers of memories. Before we moved there, dairy cows roamed the farm along with the hunt horses who ran with Golden’s Bridge Hounds. Generations of children learned to ride there, and countless new faces first encountered North Salem’s incredible rural beauty through boarding with us. RiverHorse Farm is beloved. I was so lucky to grow up there and to steward it through some of its time in the horse life of this town. We were not the first family to love this farm, and we won’t be the last.
Thank you to so many who supported us this year, and to those who love this farm as we do. In particular, thank you to our generous, understanding, kind boarders and their wonderful horses, and RHF’s caring and dedicated staff. I wish you all happiness, love, and success. I will carry the memories of our time together forever, along with the most impactful years of my life on our special farm. What a journey; what a privilege. Thank you all.
Love,
Fiona and the RiverHorse Farm team

RiverHorse Farm is a family-owned horse boarding and training facility in North Salem, NY that has been run by three generations of the Finlay family for over 25 years. The farm has historic significance as well as local charm. It was the site of the first American circus syndicate in the late 1800s, and operated as a dairy and hunt barn through most of the 20th century.
RiverHorse offers experienced care by trained equine professionals in a traditional setting. The farm includes stabling for 30 horses in spacious rubber-matted stalls and over 20 turnout paddocks on 50 acres. We take pride in having created a friendly and supportive environment where everyone from casual trail riders to passionate dressage, eventing, or hunter/jumper competitors can enjoy their horses and their sports to the fullest. Your insured trainer is welcome to teach here.
Situated on rolling North Salem hills and fields only one hour from New York City, the facilities include a gorgeous state-of-the-art covered ring and two outdoor jumping and dressage arenas. The property also has direct access to the beautiful North Salem Bridle Trail system and the only Eric Bull-designed cross country course in North Salem. The farm, set in picturesque Westchester horse country, is within hacking distance from the Golden's Bridge Hounds hunt headquarters and a number of renowned show barns including Old Salem Farm, which holds a series of rated and unrated horse shows every year.
